On June 5th 2004, the PBM hosted an
excursion in Orange County CA using OCTDs restored Flxible #201.
We had a good turnout for the excursion on a beautiful sunny southern
California day. Many PBM members from Northern California traveled to Orange County and
were joined by many of our Southern California members as well as members of the Western
Transit Society.
PBM member Matt Cantor driving x-San Diego Transit T6H5307A, #401
arrived with PBM members from the San Diego area to join the excursion. Both buses were
posed together at the OCTD division before the excursion.
After a brief tour of OCTD's Garden Grove facility to photograph
various OCTD buses, the excursion departed aboard OCTD's restored Flxible 111DD-D05-1
#201, which was beautifully restored to like new condition by OCTD. Ed Buckley of the
Western Transit Society helped direct the route of the excursion which retraced the OCTD
routes in the Santa Ana area, where 201 originally ran. Photo stops were made to pose 201
in many of its old haunts. After a lunch break and more photo stops, including a group
photo, a raffle was held before returning to the OCTD yard.
Thanks for a successful day go to our driver from the OCTD and Ed
Buckley. The PBM will be planning another southern California excursion next year.
